Frequently Asked Questions
How do I confirm I am 6 weeks pregnant?
It is essential to confirm that you are at least six weeks pregnant before taking the test. Undertaking the test prematurely may result in an insufficient amount of the baby's DNA in your blood sample for gender determination analysis. If you are uncertain about your gestational age, we advise using a gestation calculator, such as the one provided by the NHS, or postponing the test until you are 8-10 weeks pregnant.

Can I have the BlueorPink Early Gender Test without a scan?
Yes, however, First Glimpse Ultrasound highly recommends undergoing a dating scan before the BlueorPink blood test to confirm the viability of your pregnancy and to ascertain the gestational age. Furthermore, we will examine the possibility of multiple pregnancies, as these factors can influence your test results.
How does BlueorPink work?
While every person has her own DNA in her bloodstream, a pregnant woman’s bloodstream also contains DNA from her unborn child. BlueorPink Early Gender Test looks for X and Y chromosomes in a small sample of your blood. If male (Y) chromosomes are found, that means your baby is a boy. If X chromosomes are found, your baby is a girl. BlueorPink is 99.9% accurate at 6 weeks into pregnancy.

Where are my results analysed?
BlueorPink is owned by Concepto Diagnostics Ltd., a trusted and diverse British healthcare brand with a decade of experience in serving the preventative healthcare needs of customers across Diagnostics, Wellness, Genomics and Nutrition.
It is an award-winning, employee-owned company that provides experienced, reliable and affordable care for thousands of patients at its CQC registered nationwide clinics. Concepto has an in-house UKAS accredited diagnostics lab and state-of-the-art Genomics lab.

I’m having twins. Can BlueorPink determine fetal sex for each one?
In case of twin pregnancies, male results apply for one or both fetuses, female results apply to both fetuses.
Therefore, in the case of identical twins, if male DNA is found, then both babies are boys. If no male DNA is found, then both babies are girls.
For fraternal twins (or more!), finding male DNA will confirm at least one baby is a boy, but cannot distinguish if the second is a boy or girl.
Limitation: BlueOrPink Gender Test can not be performed in case of vanishing/ demised twin.

Is this test safe?
BlueorPink Early Gender Test Clinical is a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT), and it’s safe for both mum and baby. Your results are processed in a UK Laboratory.

How quickly can I get my results?
You will receive your result within 5-7 working days of your blood draw. This is subject to postal delays / strikes. Expect your result within 3 working days after it has been received in the lab. If your test is collected over the weekend, it will arrive at the Laboratory no earlier than Tuesday.

Are results guaranteed?
BlueorPink Clinical is one of the most accurate early gender tests on the market. If your test result does not match the gender of your newborn, you’ll receive a full refund for the blood test. Just email a photo of the child’s birth certificate to us within 14 days of the child’s birth.
